Events - Prospect Park Garden Walk & Plant Sale (Summer)

Garden at 111 SE Arthur

The 14th annual Prospect Park Garden Walk and Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. (Rain or shine!) We’ll again be holding our plant sale at Pratt Elementary School.

The Garden Walk is free. You’ll be able to tour approximately 20 local gardens that cover a variety of garden types: perennial and annual, vegetable and flower, shade and sun. Besides viewing front yards, you’ll be invited to view waterfalls and ponds in some backyards! Expect to see the innovative use of space and growing conditions, especially shade (which Prospect Park has in abundance).

The Plant Sale will be located outside Pratt Elementary School (66 SE Malcolm Avenue), two blocks south of SE University Avenue on SE Malcolm Avenue. This plant sale is a fund raiser for the programs that the Garden Club supports such as buckthorn removal and flower plantings at the triangles and at Pratt Elementary School.

Prospect Park is located west of Highway 280 between SE University Avenue and the Mississippi River. The Witch's Hat Water Tower is a well-known landmark in the neighborhood.

Pick up a map on the day of the Garden Walk at Schneider Drug (3400 SE University Ave.), Signature Café (130 SE Warwick St.), Cupcake (3338 SE University Ave.), or Overflow Espresso Café (2929 SE University Ave) or at the plant sale at Pratt Elementary School.

The Prospect Park Garden Walks began in 1996 and continued through 2003. There were no Garden Walks in 2004 or 2005. The Garden Walks resumed in 2006.
