SWIM: Guiding Somalis toward home ownership. Fund SWIM program staff at East Side Neighborhood Services to help participants understand financial and other issues involved in renting or owning a home. ($50,000)
Prospect Park Historical District Phase 2. Fund ther completion of the research and documentation required to have Prospect Park designated a Historical District, in order to stabilize the quality of housing stock in the neighborhood. ($28,000)
Education and Human Services:
Transition Funding for Pratt Elementary School. To continue of Pratt from a new start school to a fully operational school. The hope is that when Pratt reache its full enrolment, the School District will fund the necessary positions. ($58,000 over 2 years).
Helping Frail Elderly Neighbors. Souteast Seniors Service Coordinating Support. Help cover the costs of identifying and locating the social service agencies and specialized health care providers that a client may require as part of living safely at home. ($10,000)
Transportation:
Throating at Erie St SE and Dartmouth Ave SE. Reconstruct the intersection to reduce traffic speed and to prevent cars from driving the wrong way on Erie St
Livability:
Bulletin Boards. Construct about 4 information kiosks ariound the neighborhood for posting of neighborhood-related information. ($5000)
Food for Life. Partner with the Great Lake Country Food Bank to deliver nutritional food to seniors at no cost to them.
Fighting Buckthorn before its Too Late. Comprehensive Buckthorn removal, Hire contractors to remove large hedges; rent packer trucks and other costs associarted with neighborhood cleanup of Buckthorn. ($6500)
Luxton Air Conditioning. Purchase 2 portable air-conditioners for the Luxton Park Community Center. $1300)
